Saturday 7th February - A walk with the dogs...

Despite winter having arrived several weeks ago, today was the first chance that we'd had to make the most of some amazing conditions - and the sun shone as well!
An early start saw us away from the fell gate and up into Boulder Valley in bright sunshine and not a whisper of a breeze. From the top of Boulder Valley the view across Levers Water to Swirl How and Wetherlam was fantastic...

... but we cracked on, contouring above the tarn until the path to Levers Hawse crossed ours where we declared a coffee break.

We followed the Levers Hawse route for a while then hung away left up into the cove below Brim Fell and up behind Raven Tor; the snow firming up to solid neve and slicked with the occasional patch of water ice.

Probably not Dougal's favorite place in all the world (red dot marks the spot)
